We broke apart the night, your
breath still coated the window, your lips still made a mark. I didn’t mean to
listen in, empty words dripped from the corners of your mouth, the snow told me
your secret, all our sentences left unsaid. The sunset kissed the tip of the
horizon one last time, the moon lay in the arms of the sky forever. All the
things I liked were taken from me in the night. Even though we lay together, I
knew I would never meet you. Promises broke between us lining the Earth with
thin air. We were fading, the dark was so bright it hurt my eyes. Take me back
to the edge of the world so you might see me falling.
