Luminescence

You knew you were going to die

That’s why you came inside.

We have more in common than you know.

You’re addicted to the light.

I hide in shadows.

I lay on the floor and wonder what you’re thinking.

The loudness of trying to understand a self, or another.

The silence of feelings that tear me open.

Your wings leave dust on the walls.

Proof of life.

You existed for a brief time.

I was just here longer.

Endings are what make us whole.

When we come full circle, is it a moment of peace?

I know you were only here because you were trying to get back home.

I read moths are confused by artificial light, they think it’s the moon leading them.

I wonder if I was the light you were seeing.

Something in myself, I can’t see.

I find you laying down in the morning.

I turn on the light one last time.

Hoping part of you can see.

Still see me.
